Project 1: Fables Cafe Restaurant
The Fables Cafe brand was created as part of a project to create a design system for a fictional restaurant. The theme chosen for this fictional restaurant was “fairytale”. My role in this project was to design a logo for this restaurant and to create multiple application samples for this design system, including two website prototypes for desktop and mobile.
The logo was designed with an old storybook script in mind. Purples and blues were chosen for the colour scheme due to their association with magic and royalty (themes featured in fairytales).
Along with the brand guide—which included a menu and websites—a package and label for a complimentary wine bottle were also created. A mulberry purple was chosen for the primary colour, and the design of the label was designed for elegance and homespun appeal (with the illustration of the berries on the front).
This project was a challenge to create, but it was a valuable experience because it taught me how to make wireframes for websites—which I hadn’t ever done before. It also introduced me to package design, which I’ve found quite enjoyable and satisfying. Perhaps that’ll be my starting point for my career!
