finished project 1

Restaurant Identity

The goal of this project was to design a restaurant as well as some deliverables such as signage, menus, business cards, and other similar items. I designed my restaurant around individuals who enjoy warm rustic locations and yearn for that feeling by the campfire with people you love. Originally I wanted to have a more retro diner feel for the restaurant because when I think of breakfast places my mind immediately goes to the old diner I went to as a child, however, I felt that stepping out of my comfort zone would be a fun challenge so that is how I decided on using the rustic barn aesthetic. After creating a mood board and discussing these ideas with my professor, we noticed a lot of inspirational images I chose involved barns that had a weather vane adorning the top of them. After looking this piece up, the name of the company being cupola felt like a simple, yet perfect name- and after brainstorming further, the inclusion of the weather vane was decided upon. From the beginning, I wanted to have a warm, near-neutral colour scheme mainly focusing on browns and golden yellows, and these colours were included with the only exceptions being the use of gold in my promotional packaging as well as the menu. As was mentioned prior, the main challenge I faced was with the brainstorming stage, but after that, it was smooth sailing.
