A Bit About Alison

Alison Vance is a second year Graphic Design Student at Conestoga College. Originally from the Dundas Valley area of Hamilton, Ontario, she now lives in Kitchener Ontario. Throughout her life, Alison’s interest in the arts and design has been prominent, she was inspired by the animation and typography that she saw in cartoons and movies, this inspired her to look into illustration at Sheridan College. During her previous education at Sheridan College’s Art Fundamentals and Visual Creative Arts (VCA) program, Alison was introduced to many disciplines of art and design.

Currently at Conestoga, she has worked directly with several professional clients, including the New Brunswick Lung Association during a project called Creative Day For Social Good (CD4SG), where she helped design and implement their new infographic brochures and social media assets.

She is proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, as well as Procreate. In the graphic design sphere she is passionate about editorial design, typography, illustration, branding, and packaging design. Alison also takes inspiration from the influences around her and enjoys bringing aspects of vintage illustration, design, and typography into her work.

Alison aspires to work in the editorial design sphere in the future, as her love of books, layouts, and typography have inspired her to work to keep the written word in the spotlight of the media. To her, the written word deserves to be perceived in a way that makes you appreciate the experience of being swept into a storyline and letting the words you read become a part of you
